Some titles keep coming up, but I have a morbid fear of going out and buying something when I have no idea what it sounds like. So, if anyone out there loves listening to the following bands and has a suggestion 'bout which albums one ought to start with, I would be most appreciative and grateful. Like Grateful Dead.

On a side note, I just purchased Karajan's version of Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, Dvorak's New World Symphony, Led Zeppelin, and Jefferson Airplane. Maybe I like being eclectic so no one can put me in a box.
I'd go with Transatlanticism for Death Cab, either Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness for the Pumpkins, and oh, I dunno, either American Idiot or Dookie for Green Day.
