Over on scotsalumni, Carrie jokingly asked if understanding football would help her understand the male pysche. After it was pointed out to her that not all men watch football, I (helpfully) steered her in the right direction.
Perhaps if you want to understand the male pysche you should take logic. And then study mortality.
It's all in this nice syllogism here:
All men are mortal.
Socrates is a man.
Therefore, Socrates is mortal.
It's foolproof. Mortal is perhaps the only thing all men happen to be, so if you study mortality, you will understand men.
I'm so glad I solved that problem.
Yes, I really am. :)

Posted by: Evan Donovan at 16.11.06 0:21Yes, Evan, but you see that the root "mortal" is still contained within the word "immortal," meaning that the concept "immortal" is dependent upon referencing in some way the concept of "mortal." You can't negate without first having something to negate.
So I still only have to study mortality.
I win. :)

Posted by: Evan Donovan at 17.11.06 23:17I must say, Evan, I'm a tad disappointed.
Sigh. Cosi fan tutte...(and I really hope you look that phrase up if don't already know what it means if only to indulge my geekish sense of humor...)
